Riverdale, MD – The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County, announces the cancellation of all outdoor programming from noon to 8:00 pm on August 2, except for a few listed below, due to the heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service. The safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority, and we encourage everyone to stay cool and hydrated.

While most outdoor programs are canceled, some events will continue with additional safety protocols in place:

• The Boat Ride scheduled for noon at Bladensburg Waterfront Park (4601 Annapolis Road, Bladensburg, MD 20710) will proceed as planned.
• The Wonderful World of Watkins at Watkins Regional Park (301 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774) will close at 1 pm.
• Movies in the Parks at Watkins Regional Park will start at 8 pm.

All indoor and outdoor pools and cooling centers will remain open and operate under regular scheduled hours. Advanced reservations are encouraged to ensure patrons can access the pools. The safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority, and we encourage everyone to stay cool and hydrated. The following events will take place as scheduled with additional safety protocols in place:

• Concerts at Cosca Regional Park (11000 Thrift Road, Clinton, MD 20735) at 6:00 pm
• Concerts in the Parks at Watkins Regional Park (301 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774) at 7:00 pm
• Movie night with the Prince George’s County Police Department and The Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Prince George’s County Division at Fairwood Park (12390 Fairwood Pkwy, Bowie, MD 20720) will begin at 7:00 pm.

Indoor facilities remain open, and indoor programs will continue as scheduled. Patrons are encouraged to postpone visits to outdoor sites and instead take advantage of the many indoor activities and amenities available.
