  • M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation to Distribute More than 1,000 Free Coats

    RIVERDALE, Md. – M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, in partnership with Good Intentions Foundation Incorporated, is helping families stay warm by distributing more than 1,000 new coats for children, from toddlers to teens. Coats will be available at 17 locations throughout Prince George’s County, with 16 of these being M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation facilities. 

    Coat Distribution Details:

    • Dates: Monday, January 27, 2025, and Tuesday, January 28, 2025
    • Availability: Coats will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis during facility hours.

  • Parks and Rec Cares: MLK Day of Services Donation Drive to Support Local Families

    RIVERDALE, Md. – In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Services, M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County is collecting donations through its Parks and Rec Care initiative to support St. Ann’s Center for Children, Youth, & Families. Community members are encouraged to contribute, with donations accepted through Thursday, January 23, 2025.

    Help support mothers and children in need by donating essential items, such as:

    • Women’s Underwear: Plus sizes only
    • Bath Robes and Slippers: All sizes; great need for plus sizes
    • Pajamas: All sizes; great need for plus sizes
    • Umbrellas: All sizes
    • Products: Soap, lotion, and body sprays
    • Hair Care Products: Brushes, Combs, Hair Wraps, Bonnets, Headbands, Hair Ties. For women of color.
    • Children’s Books: Special need for dual-language board books (French/ Engish, Spanish/ English)
    • Pull-Ups: Sizes 5, 6, &7

    RIVERDALE, Md. – The Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County, part of M-NCPPC, has been named the 2024 Champions of Tennis Park & Recreation Agency of the Year by Racquet Sports Industry Magazine, a prestigious honor recognizing exceptional contributions to the promotion, development, and growth of tennis programs at the local level.

    This award, presented by Racquet Sports Industry Magazine (RSI), celebrates agencies that provide innovative, inclusive, and sustainable tennis offerings for individuals of all ages and skill levels. The Department stood out for its exceptional commitment to enhancing recreational and competitive tennis opportunities for residents of Prince George’s County.

    Key Highlights of the Department’s Achievements:

    • Inclusive Programs for All Ages and Skill Levels: The department’s tennis programs cater to a diverse community, from beginners to advanced players, with a focus on accessibility, equity, and inclusion.
