M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County Announces Reopening of the Southern Regional Aquatic Wellness Center

RIVERDALE, Md. – M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County is pleased to announce the reopening of the Southern Regional Aquatic Wellness Center following the completion of repairs. The newly restored Southern Regional Aquatic Wellness Center will reopen to the public on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at noon.

The completed repairs addressed cracks that developed in the pools, ensuring a safer and more durable environment for swimmers of all ages. The delayed reopening was necessary to ensure that the facility meets the highest standards of safety and enjoyment for all visitors.

“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we worked to complete these necessary repairs,” said Adrienne Harris-Moore, Division Chief of the Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division. “The improvements will enhance both the safety and overall experience of our visitors, and we are excited to welcome everyone back.”

To celebrate the reopening, Prince George’s County residents will enjoy free general admission and classes until Friday, May 2, 2025. Regular operating hours will resume on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Patrons are encouraged to make pool reservations and to register for classes in advance to secure their spot, as availability is based on capacity. Online reservations and class registration will be made available soon.

Spring Registration to continue online beginning at 9:00 am

Riverdale, Md – Due to ongoing inclement weather impacting the region, M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County announces the closures of all offices, facilities, and scheduled programs on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. The safety of our community members and staff remains our highest priority. We encourage everyone to exercise caution and limit travel as necessary.

Effective Wednesday, February 12, the following adjustments will be in place:
- Spring registration for programs, classes, ticketed events, and more will proceed as scheduled online. Prince George’s County residents can begin registering at 9:00 am on February 12, while non-residents may register starting Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis at pgparksdirect.com. For assistance, please call 301-699-2255 to speak with a representative regarding account-related issues and general questions.
- All offices and facilities, including community centers, will be closed.
- All recreational programs, including classes, events, and sports leagues, are canceled.
