Temporary Trail Closure – Anacostia River Trail (Charles Armentrout Dr to Bladensburg Rd)

Please be advised that the Anacostia River Trail between Charles Armentrout Drive and Bladensburg Road will be closed for approximately four days due to bridge repairs.

The closure is scheduled to take place from January 19, through January 22, 2026, weather permitting. No trail detour will be available during this time. Pedestrians may use adjacent sidewalks to complete their trip and are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Trail Closure Notice – Anacostia River Trail at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens

Please be advised that the Anacostia River Trail at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens will be temporarily closed for deer management. Closures will occur during the following times:

Wednesday, January 14, 2026, 4:00 PM  – Thursday, January 15, 2026, 6:00 AM

Thursday, January 15, 2026, 4:00 PM – Friday, January 16, 2026, 6:00 AM

During these times, access to the trail, athletic fields, and lighted track at Kenilworth will be restricted. US Park Police, NPS staff, and authorized personnel will be on site to ensure public safety.

Safety Reminder: Please do not attempt to access closed areas during these times. Follow posted signage and staff directions for your safety.

Anacostia River Trail Bridge Re-decking Project

Please be advised that a bridge re-decking project will begin on January 6, 2026, along the Anacostia River Trail, on the portion south of Charles Armentrout Drive and north of Bladensburg Road.

The trail will remain open throughout the project. Trail users are urged to use caution in the work area and follow all posted signage.
