Our popular annual showcase gives you the opportunity to travel the globe from the comfort of your Publick Playhouse seat, when professional troupes perform dances from a panoply of cultural traditions. This year's production features dances from China, Cambodia, India, Egypt, United States, Colombia, Ukraine, Spain, and Tahiti! Breathtaking costumes, authentic music, and the enchanting grace of the dancers will make you feel like a world traveler.

2022 World Dance Showcase Adjudicators:


Miriam Phillips is currently Guest Lecturer in the MA Ethnochoreology and BA Contemporary Dance programs at the University of Limerick’s Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in Ireland where she is also completing a PhD in Arts Practice. In addition to serving on the dance faculties of the University of Maryland, Wesleyan, Cal Arts, Sonoma State, and Mills College, she also ran the flamenco dance school and company, Azafrán Flamenco in Northern California for 14 years. She has lived, researched, and performed in India, Spain, Israel, Guinea-West Africa, and Ireland, and has published these experiences in various journals.

A native of the Republic of Georgia, Irina Tsikurishvili is a 58-time Helen Hayes Award Nominee and has won the award 14 times for her outstanding choreography and acting. Ms.Tsikurishvili has taught at Georgetown University, where she choreographed Lysistrata. She continues to run intensive movement workshops and train Synetic cast members. With her husband Paata, she is the co-founder of Synetic Theater and co-founder of Stanislavsky Theater Studio. Paata & Irina were named Washingtonians of the Year in 2013. Irina Graduated from Chabukiani National Ballet Academy in Tbilisi Georgia and holds BFA in Performing Arts.
