Arts on a Roll Teaching Artists 


Lead Teaching Artist: $21-$35/hr
Assistant Teaching Artist: $15-$20/hr

Arts on a Roll is a mobile, on demand service providing hands-on arts experiences to customers around Prince George’s County. We are seeking enthusiastic artists and arts educators to lead classes, design workshops, develop curriculum, and assist at events for visual and performing arts programs. Our instructors represent a range of artistic backgrounds and varied levels of expertise, and we invite applicants with no prior teaching experience who can assist at classes and events, to skilled educators who can develop curriculum and lead programs.

This is a flexible, gig-based position based on the needs of the program and the availability of our teaching artists. We seek candidates with a passion for the arts as well as community-based programming and civic engagement, and we provide opportunities for artistic collaboration, personal growth, and professional development.

Performing Arts Assistant

Hourly pay $16-$18/hr 
Hours: Seasonal; Part-time; 20 to 30 hours a week based on needs of program

The Performing Arts Assistant will serve as administrative support for the Arts Specialist overseeing numerous performing arts programs. The assistant will support onsite logistical needs of the artistic staff at rehearsals and performances at venues across Prince George’s County. The assistant will also help distribute and collect surveys. Duties include organizing and preparing, assisting with event setup, maintaining supply inventories, audience engagement, and other duties.

Junior Academy of Performing Arts Teaching Artist


 Hourly Pay Range $20-$30/hr

The Junior Academy of Performing Arts (JAPA) is seeking music and theatre teaching artists to join our instructor team leading year-round music and theatre programs for students ages 8 to 16. JAPA introduces musical theater and performance skills to students who have a talent and curiosity for the performing arts and strengthens the knowledge and skill level of students already interested in pursuing artistic professions. The instructors will lead in their designated genre of expertise, collaborating between musicians, actors and choreographers, and will assist with the overall management of the program. The ideal candidate has a desire to work with students of all experiences, backgrounds, and talents and an interest in being part of the long-term growth of the program over future seasons. All programming is held at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, University of Maryland. Fall and Spring sessions run Saturdays, September through May, and summer camps run Monday-Friday, June through August.

Teen Performance Ensemble Artistic Director

Hourly pay: $24-$26/hr
Hours: Part-time; 20 to 30 hours a week based on needs of program

The TPE Artistic Director will serve as the artistic lead for a touring summer theatrical production for teens that includes leading rehearsals, supervising actors on tour, and providing enrichment training in theatre arts. The selected candidate must have experience directing plays and working with adolescents.

Tour: June 25 – August 19

Teen Performance Ensemble Company Manager

Hourly pay: $18-$20/hr 
Hours: Seasonal; Part-time; 20 to 30 hours a week based on the needs of the program

The TPE Company Manager will serve as the onsite lead for the Teen Performance Ensemble Summer Tour. The Company Manager will be responsible for assisting with rehearsals, transporting and supervising teen actors on tour, and serving as the onsite coordinator. Candidate must be able to drive a vehicle. Experience working in Theatre and with adolescents is required.

Shakespeare In the Parks Stage Technician

Hourly pay: $18-$20/hr
Hours: Seasonal; Part-time; 20 to 30 hours a week based on the needs of the program

Qualified technicians to set up, operate, strike, and store staging, sound, and lighting equipment and repair for the Shakespeare In the Parks program. Ability to drive a box truck. Assist with load-in and strike of the tour for tech rehearsals and performances at approximately 12 park locations in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties (June 20 – July 16). Knowledge of some of the equipment, materials, practice, and tools used in theatrical lighting, sound rigging, and scenic production; common hazards and necessary safety precautions involved with theatre work; strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks including lifting at least 50 lbs., bending, working in tiring and uncomfortable positions and from catwalks, ladders, scaffolds, and bucket lift. Theater technical experience is required.

Tech Rehearsal: June 20– June 24
Tour: June 25 – July 16, 2023

Shakespeare In the Parks Company Manager

Hourly pay: $22-$24/hr
Hours: Seasonal; Part-time; 20 to 30 hours a week based on the needs of the program

The Shakespeare In the Parks Company Manager will work closely with the cast and crew to provide support in communication, transportation, scheduling, rehearsals, and performances. The Company Manager will also serve as the onsite point of contact with venues on the tour. Candidate must be able to drive a vehicle. Experience working in Theatre is required.

Rehearsal: May 29 – June 24
Tour: June 25 – July 23, 2023

Graphic Designer and Photographer


Hourly Pay $18-$20/hr
Hours: Approximately 20 hours/week. Hybrid, with 1 attendance at select events

The Designer and Photographer will create graphics and edit images for web and social media, print fliers, and advertisements. They will also attend 2-3 arts events per month across Prince George’s County to create photo documentation for use in marketing and archives. The Designer and Photographer will work in close coordination with the Arts Marketing Team, which includes another p/t Designer, a Social Media Specialist, and Marketing Manager.

Artists on the Rise: Eleventh Annual Juried Teen Exhibition


Montpelier Arts Center presents Artists on the Rise!, an annual juried teen exhibition held in the galleries of Montpelier and designed to provide local teens with an opportunity to showcase their artistic accomplishment in a professional setting.

Awards will be given for First Place ($200), Second Place ($150), Third Place ($100), and Honorable Mention ($25).
